Random Thoughts by Pam
Here you will find my many random thoughts. Random pictures, random stories, random sayings, whatever I am thinking at the moment when I'm ready to write! Basically, you'll get to hear what's on my mind at any given moment - especially when my husband doesn't want to listen to my rambling!

Kathryn B'Elanna is here!
Praise the Lord, Kathryn is here! We are so excited!!! She came Saturday morning (May 14th) at 9:21 AM. She weighed 8lbs 12oz and is 20 inches long. Labor went rather quickly so it was great! Everyone at the hospital was great! Here's a photo of Kathryn and she's wearing the hat that my friend Kelly knitted for her! Isn't she cute? She has tons of room to grow into the hat! Thanks Kelly! Here are more photos of Kathryn. Enjoy!! |

Another project finished!
This one was really quick, maybe an hour total! I joined a group where I can trade potholders. I thought that was cool! This is my just-in-case potholder, the one where if I can't make one during one month, I can send this one. But I really like it and may make others like this! I can't remember where I found the pattern, but if I find it, I will post the link. I had to change some of the rounds to make the front match with the back. Wasn't too hard to figure out. I just did both sides with the Red Heart Super Saver Stars and Stripes (6oz.). The pattern called for the back to be one solid color, but I went ahead and did it this way. I might do others with contrasting colors. |

First Granny Square completed!
Many, many, many thanks to Allena for helping me get this granny square right!! You're so awesome!!! What will I do without you?? I started the granny square several days ago and it took several tries to get the first two rounds right, then I finally got rounds 3 & 4 done with some directions from Allena and then it got really tricky (for me)!
So Allena and I sat down at her house Thursday evening and after 2-3 tries, I got round five done! I finished one side of round six while watching Deanna at t-ball practice and while I was making a DVD of Jamie's first t-ball game for Kristy, I finished the rest of round six and went all the way to round ten and completed it! I gather it took several hours to actually complete, but I hope that the rest do faster now that I have it down. Here's where I got the pattern from: http://www.spatulagraphics.com/krochet/patterns/bdayjwl.html. Eventually, I am going to make a chess board afghan for Richard. So I have 63 more squares to go! I'm making 32 black ones and 32 white ones and will sew them together to look like a chess board once I have them done. I'm sure it'll take several weeks, maybe more than a month to finish. I am just storing the completed granny squares in a huge ziploc bag until I'm ready to piece them together! I'll be sure to post a picture once I'm done! |
"No exit"
Well, yesterday, at least 10-12 people in about an half hour's time tried to go through a set of sliding glass doors that were locked due to construction! Richard and I sat there and laughed each time somenone walked up to them and waited for the doors to open, only to read the sign, complain and turn around to go out another way.
So our lives are boring right now, we get amused by anything!

Spot has claimed my project
So technically, this is project #4 that I finished some time ago. It orignally was going to be a scarf which I began back in February or so when it was still cold here in Germany! But, I goofed and made it too wide. I went until I ran out of yarn on that skein and added a red border to it using some double crochets. I was going to add another color, but chose not to and just stopped working on it.
I was going to say that it was a table runner which it's about the size for it, but Richard put it on top of our computer desk and had two pictures sitting on top of it, but Spot decided she'd like to lay on it. So it's officially Spot's Spot. She slept here last night the entire night. It not only is comfortable, but she's way up high and Jadzia (our dog) can't reach her! |

A success!
Fixing to start two new crochet projects. Richard requested a new blanket so I'm making a checkerboard pattern out of granny squares. It'll be black and white. The other is a book cover. I joined a list online that does a project a month so I'm going to try to do that in a month. They have specific instructions for each week so I'm going to try and do that!
I need to grab a cross stitch from my drawer of unfinished projects so when my fingers get tired I can do that instead. I owe Richard one that I haven't even started!! I just need to get it out and stick it in my bag that I carry everywhere.
Guess that's all for now. Just wanted to pop in!!
