Random Thoughts by Pam

Here you will find my many random thoughts. Random pictures, random stories, random sayings, whatever I am thinking at the moment when I'm ready to write! Basically, you'll get to hear what's on my mind at any given moment - especially when my husband doesn't want to listen to my rambling!

3rd project finished!!

Here's my third project all done! This is for my secret sister at church (shhhhh!) and I finished it yesterday so I could make sure it was ready for our reveal on Saturday. I so hope she likes it!

I found the pattern online at http://www.freepatterns.com. Only problem was, on the dish towel, I couldn't find my F crochet hook and ended up using a G and because the yarn was a little heavier than it called for, my gauge got off so I altered the pattern and just made it rectangular and added a nice border to the longer sides. This towel took up one entire skein of yarn! Glad I bought three! The pot holders are exactly as the pattern called for. Yea! The pot holders took roughly 1.5 to 2 hours. The towel took a few days to finish.

I really hope she likes them! I wanted to make her an afghan, but didn't have time! Maybe for my next secret sister! I do have afghan I'm working on and it'll probably be a Christmas gift for someone. It might take me that long to finish it!

Toodles!

Here's the corner of the dish towel with the border on one side.

This is the pot holder I did. I did two of them!

Scrabble!

So last night, Richard and I played Scrabble. Now I'm usually pretty good at Scrabble. Richard hardly ever comes close to beating me. Well, last night, Richard beat the socks off me! He won by a good 100 points! I couldn't believe it! Ugh!! I had the worst letters ever. X and Z, all consonants, no vowels, It was horrible! Just needed to vent! It was fun though. Richard had a great time though. He was coming up with words like crazy! Me, I could barely make anything more than three letters long. We had a good time though. Nice to have a playing partner back in the house!

Still preggo!!

Yep, I am still very much pregnant, but so ready for it to be over! The waiting game is the pits! I thought last night was it after having a huge mexican dinner, but no such luck. I'm veggie out on the couch this afternoon, hoping to get some rest as I still don't feel right, if you know what I mean! Ugh!! (I'm 39 weeks this coming Tuesday.)

It's a great afternoon here in Germany. Not too hot, not too cold. The kiddos are out playing on the playground, Jadzia is on the porch (our dog), Spot (our cat) is probably sleeping on our bed and hubby is reading the newspaper (will he make it through without falling asleep is the question of the day!).

I think I'm going to put the laptop back onto the coffee table and stretch out here on the couch and maybe catch a few winks. Didn't get much sleep last night with contractions and just overall uncomfortableness (is that a word???). Megan ended up crawling in bed with us last night and she just loves putting her feet into my back which is not good for me! Plus, she never gives me any room! She insists on snuggling up with me, she can't roll over to Daddy and snuggle with him.

Well, that's all for this post. I'll TTYL!

2nd project finished!!

I'm super excited to actually be finishing these neat crochet projects! I finished my first ever baby afghan for my friend Justina who is having a baby boy in May.

I found the pattern in my "I Taught Myself How to Crochet" book that I bought at Wal-Mart years ago. I used single crochet, half-double crochets, double crochets and slip stitches.

It was cool because I was able to do the little scalloped edges on the border. Wasn't too hard! Check out the photos below!

(See my preggo tummy behind the blanket? Could be any day now!!)

Entire blanket (32" square)

Here's the corner of the blanket with the scalloped edges.

Kathryn's First Baby Gift!

Our first gift for little unborn Kathryn arrived yesterday! Thank you Justina for the wonderful outfit and bib!! They are so precious! I love it!! I can't wait for her to be here to wear it! (Yours is just about done! Since I was sick, I lost a day or two on finishing it. Should be mailing it out Monday!)

My baby shower is today (the 16th) at the church. I think I'm gonna make it! Can't wait! I love parties! The girls are super excited. Megan thinks the baby is getting lots of new toys to play with and that the baby is going to come out today. The mind of a three year old!

My first completed crochet project!

Here it is! The first real crochet project I've ever completed! Thanks Allena for the pattern and for helping to figure out the stitches!

The bears are brown and I used navy for the border on the squares. This is for our third baby, Kathryn, who is due on May 7. This is hanging above her crib in her room! I had fun doing this! It's neat to have a finished project to post!
