Random Thoughts by Pam

Here you will find my many random thoughts. Random pictures, random stories, random sayings, whatever I am thinking at the moment when I'm ready to write! Basically, you'll get to hear what's on my mind at any given moment - especially when my husband doesn't want to listen to my rambling!

So I bought a basket...

...to store my works in progress in. Got a great deal at the furniture store here on post and got it for half off! Woo hoo!! I figured I needed somewhere to put my WIP since my shelf was getting full! So the basket sits nicely beside my shelf and I think my "hint" that I have too many projects going on is if the basket overflows!!

My first hat!! Completed!

Here it is! I finished it this afternoon. I started it Wednesday night and since then, I guess it took three or so hours to finish. This hat is for Kathryn, my sweet six week old girl! She looks cute in it! Check her out!

I got the pattern from here when a member of one of my crochet groups posted it. I used a varigated yarn, 75% wool. I found this at our craft store on post, it's actually meant for knitting socks, but I used it for this hat. For a bigger hat, use a larger hook (I used a "G" hook). My other two girls want one too, just waiting for some yarn to come in the mail!

Never play Monopoly with Richard...

...if you expect to win! Richard, Deanna and I decided to play Monopoly today. Now, it's been a really long time since Richard and I've played and this is the second time that Deanna has played. She doesn't quite have the hang of it, but loves rolling doubles so she can go twice in a row!

So tonight, Richard ends up buying 80% of all the property, has hotels on all his property!! Deanna lands on Boardwalk with a hotel and owes Richard $2,000! Needless to say, Deanna was out of the game. I landed on St. James with a hotel, that cost me $1,150, had to mortage my few properties, then landed on Marvin Gardens, well, I was out of the game.

We had a ton of fun, just next time, it's my turn to win!!!

My first puffy!!

So I joined this list on Yahoo Groups called CTPotholderX where we crochet potholders and have partners each month to swap what we do. Well, today I received my first puffy from MaryLu!!

I just want to thank MaryLu so much!! I received two potholders (I've posted their pics so you can see what an awesome job she did!), one pin cushion and the girls each received their own washcloth. I also got two small posters with inspirational sayings and a neat note from MaryLu.

MaryLu,

You did such an awesome job on the potholders! So creative! I'm not to that stage yet in my crocheting, but you give me inspiration to do more! I hope you like your puffy when you receive it!!

Thanks again!

Anniversary Number Nine

That's right, number nine. Hard to believe! This is our first anniversary together in two years. That's the Army for ya! Before that, we'd been together for each one, Heck, Deanna was conceived on anniversary number two! (probably too much info!!)

We've known each other since 1992, met on the marching band field (well, parking lot) while I was a freshman in high school and he was a sophomore. He played the trumpet and I played the clarinet. met on the 35 yard line. I remember it like it was yesterday!

Now here we are, thirteen years later, married for nine, three girls, living in Germany. Who knew? It's been a great ride that we are going to stay on!

We have become friends...

Me and my sewing machine that is! Thanks so much to Danielle for helping me out such a long time ago, but we are finally getting along! I took on the job of sewing my husband's patches on his uniform and sewing on Deanna's Girl Scout patches on her uniform as well. I actually got the thread to work and not break and got the bobbin to work too! So I only have one more uniform to do sometime this week.

No longer will I be afraid of my machine again!!

It drives me bonkers...

...when just as you're finishing a project, your yarn acts up and gets all in a knot! Argh! I was thirty stitches from being done with another granny square when my black yarn gets into a huge knot! It took several hours to get enough of it untangled to finish the square and then several more hours to get the rest untangled and start it into a ball. I stopped rolling it out of frustration Monday evening. Just too much to handle at that time!

On a lighter note, I'm really cracking at these granny squares. I'm keeping track of them on the widebar of my blogger so check it out once a week or so! I can finish one in about an hour now that I've got it down. Should have them done within a few more weeks and can wash them and then piece them together. Not that we need a blanket like this for our bed right now, but by winter we will!
